The band is one of only six Dallas-area bands invited to perform in the Rose Parade in more than 50 years. The Hebron Band will be one of 24 bands marching around the 5 ½ mile-long parade route along Colorado Boulevard with historically 700,000 cheering spectators, and an estimated 37+ million more tuning in on television and online across the globe. In fact, there will be more viewers watching the Rose Parade than all viewers that have ever seen the marching band performances to date.

LeVar Burton is the grand marshal of the festivities, which will air on Sat. Jan. 1 at 8:00 AM PT or 10:00 AM CT on ABC, NBC, KTLA-5, RFD TV, and Univision Channels. Set your DVRs and catch the Hebron Band performing in the Rose Parade roughly at 9:15 -9:30 PT or 11:15-11:30 CT/Dallas time.

Hebron will perform on Thursday, Dec. 30th at 3:00 PM PT/5:00 PM CT/Dallas time. The event will be live streamed on the Tournament of Roses Youtube channel. Click the link below to access their channel.

Director Andy Sealy is proud of this once in a lifetime invitation for the students and said, “It is a tremendous honor for the Hebron High School marching band to be recognized with an invitation from the Tournament of Roses and our students will have the unique opportunity to be part of something bigger than themselves as we share our music and music education directly to a genuinely appreciative international audience."

There are more than 27 languages spoken/represented in the families of Hebron High School and more than 60 languages spoken in the feeder pattern alone. This year’s Tournament of Roses’ Rose Parade theme is Dream. Believe. Achieve. Rose Parade President, Bob Miller, shared these thoughts on the Hebron Marching Band and the diverse community of exceptional students.

Jack T. Rossi | THE HEBRON BAND MEDIA TEAM

“If you have a Dream and Believe in your abilities, you can achieve just about anything. The 2022 Rose Parade emphasis is on education: equitable and quality public education for all. Education is the great equalizer. Education is the single greatest contributor to social and economic mobility and a Hebron education starts students on that path. The Hebron Band program supports all students no matter their economic or social status. It is the gateway to very bright and rewarding futures. The quality of their musicianship is only outshined by the quality of the education and life skills they attain at Hebron High School.”

In 2019 the Hebron Marching Band faced challenges of COVID-19–20 season yet went on to state donned with masks to win Silver Medal with a show titled La Suerte Azul. That show encouraged students in challenging times and then encouraged perseverance in this year’s 2021 show entitled PENstriped. In remembrance of the challenging years, they have persevered through since winning the invitation to the tournament of roses Rose Parade in 2019, they will be playing a portion of La Suerte Azul as they march down Colorado Blvd. on New Year’s Day 2022.

The Hebron Band has a slogan #allinallthetime and these 320+ committed band members are now in Pasadena with an army of parent/alumni volunteers and 25 chaperones to support this extraordinary musical and educational opportunity. They are joined by 11 Parent and Alumni Truck/van drivers, that left for Pasadena in 4 semis and a van carrying 300+ instruments, 400 +suitcases, equipment, 600+ uniforms, and props on Christmas morning, to ensure all equipment got to California safely.

“It is incredible to see band parents and Alumni parents who continue to support the band at such high levels! Nine of our drivers, 2 of which are women, got their CDL certifications just to be able to drive the band equipment, instruments, luggage, and props to competitions and across the nation for this eventful invitation,” said Kris Boggs, Senior Trombone Parent. This is the essence of the Hebron Band ethos.

“Our entire organization is so blessed to be part of an environment with the outstanding and wholehearted community and school administrative support. None of our successes and nor the opportunities they create can exist in a vacuum. It truly does take a village made up of parents, teachers, administrators, and community leaders to bring these moments to fruition for our students,” -Andy Sealy

The Hebron Band would like to thank the Hebron High School/HHS9 staff, LISD staff, sponsors, surrounding city officials, parents, and community for their generous support and vision to make this Rose Parade dream a reality for the history books.

“Being extraordinary is doing the little things in your job at an unbelievable level.”

-Andy Sealy, Director of Bands & Hebron High School Teacher of the Year
